SELF BRANDING

1. I experimented with many fonts, as seen in the top image, but the typeface I chose to use for my logo was Sanchez. What attracted me to this was it's quirky characteristics- it's wideness and the curved angles were interesting qualities, especially the curves in the letter K. Also note: I had no plans to involve colour as I knew I wanted a monochrome logo.

2. I'd previously noticed that the letters K and R almost had an element of symmetry about them when placed back to back. This was something I wanted to experiment with further so I vertically flipped the letter K horizontally to mirror R. I also increased the line thickness by 1. There isn't much difference really but I wanted to make the typeface a little bolder.

3. After flipping the letter K I realised that this actually looked good and would be interesting to use this.

4. I joined both the K and the R to merge both letters into one. after doing this I was even more confident with the idea.

5. fully merged K and R.

6. I decided to maybe add something extra to establish this logo. I didn't want anything too flash, so I placed the icon within a simple circle, with the shape the same line thickness as the font.

7. Feeling pretty happy with what I'd produced, I still felt there could be a little something extra I could add to make it more visually pleasing. It was then I thought to open it in PS and use some distressing brushes to wear it out a little. After various touches I was happy with what I ended up with. I'm satisfied with the fact it looks like a stamp. I'm enjoying the whole distressed / retro aesthetic at the moment and I'm hoping to experiment with it further so I thought why not reflect this in my logo.

After even further experimentation I played around with imagery and created this crest-like emblem to maybe alternate with the original logo I created!
