PROGRESS

I keep forgetting to post my targets for the week but since my last (and only) one I've became up to scratch with research including research into my chosen designer, Harry Pearce; collecting enough research on him as possible to produce my piece. I've looked into editorial design and layouts and made sketches of my initial ideas. I've also 90% completed my final visual, which is an informational editorial poster which would feature in Circular magazine as a supplement which you can pull out completely or just open out in the magazine. I was a little inspired by Swiss design and similar posters I saw with a similar layout, so I should mention those in my research. I also need to finish annotation and explain in my development how I got to this stage- through screen shots, sketches etc. I also need to get the approval of this mock-up I printed out in the image above so I can pursue printing it out in A2 on pretty thin/newspaper paper. I'm currently feeling pretty confident with the quality of my work.

SUBEAZE

    

SUBEAZE(.com) is a web based introductory service for subcontractors operating within the construction industry. The website allows subcontractors to create their own profile which will include: personal details, qualifications, references, profile photo and photos of work completed, personal statement and driving licence info. The subcontractor will have access to various tools to enable them to make their profile as appealing as they choose to. Here is what I created for this company - a logo which reflects what they do in a unique and creative design. I originally had the idea of a clipboard and pen including 'Subeaze.com' in the same typeface, which implicated the idea of people being part of a network / list / register etc, however later I thought this might seem too old-school and most of all too imagery-based for a business that probably isn't like the vision I had in my mind. I came up with the idea of combining the illustration of a pen and a screwdriver to form a crest-like symbol which I find quite quirky to look at. Although it probably is way too eccentric for what they're after. The pen represents the company who allows the workers (the screwdriver) to find jobs. The distressing is a personal touch but could in fact suggest the hands-on and gritty industry of construction and manual work.
